Contributing to an AccountWhat Happens to Contributions Made Over the Maximum Amount?The program manager will notify the contributor if he or she has made a contribution to an account that exceeds the allowable maximum amount. The program manager will not knowingly accept and may reject contributions in excess of the applicable limit. If the program manager determines that contributions have been made in excess of the applicable limit, the excess contributions and any earnings thereon will be promptly refunded and may be treated as a nonqualified withdrawal that is subject to taxes and penalty.
